Thane: Fatka robber who targeted cop arrested

KALYAN: A fatka robber was arrested by the Kalyan Government Railway Police, for targetting a policeman travelling on an express train last week.
History-sheeter Ganesh Mohite (23) had hit constable Vithal Umrane (31) on his hand with a stick, while the latter was travelling from Kalyan to CSMT on the Sinhagad Express. Umrane lost his balance and fell off the train, while Mohite fled with his phone.
Umrane suffered injuries to his knee.
Mohite, a resident of Siddharth Nagar in Ulhasnagar, inserted a new SIM card into Umrane's phone. The police then tracked the phone's location to Ulhasnagar. Unemployed, the police said Mohite was a drug addict. He was produced before the Kalyan railway court on Saturday and remanded to police custody for three days.
