Govt names Kuruvilla John as ATS head
T’puram: In the latest reshuffle initiated in the police top brass, the state government has appointed DIG Anup Kuruvilla John as the head of the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) in the state. Anup, an officer from the 2004 batch, has been holding the charge of DIG (training) at the Kerala Police Academy (KEPA) at Thrissur for the past three years. He has earlier served as SP, Kannur, city police commissioner, Kozhikode, and as SP in National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Neeraj Kumar Gupta from 2005 batch who joined the cadre after his central deputation as the DIG (training) has been appointed in KEPA.
Yatish Chandra will be the new district police chief in Kannur in place of Pratheesh Kumar. Pratheesh Kumar, who is leaving on central deputation soon, has been appointed as SP (headquarters).
R Adithya, who is currently DCP (law and order) in the capital, replaces Yatish Chandra as city police commissioner, Thrissur. Wayanad SP R Karuppasamy has been appointed as DCP (law and order) in the capital. The government also mutually transferred Idukki SP T Narayanan and Kollam city police commissioner P K Madhu. SP crimes, Idukki, Zakaria George has been appointed as SP, women’s cell. Consumerfed MD R Sukeshan has been posted back in the police department as SP (special branch CID). TNN
