THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government’s Covid-19 containment plans have failed miserably and the government is running away from its responsibilities, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala alleged on Thursday.
The LDF government has limited its role to acting against violators of Covid protocols and the pandemic is now being treated as a law and order issue instead of a health hazard.
“At present, there are no takers for the Kerala Covid containment model which was highlighted by the government and appreciated by many once. Dharavi model Covid containment is being talked about now and even Kerala has recognized this model,” said Chennithala.
While pointing out the flaws in Covid containment, he said the number of tests per day is low even after increase in the case load. There is delay in announcing the results too. Lack of transparency on data subverts all containment efforts.
All the three plans advocated by the government to check the disease have failed, he added. The government wants to get rid of the issue and is leaving the patients in the lurch.
