Kerala reports 1,564 new Covid-19 cases, tally rises to 39,708

The state reported its highest single-day tally of 1,564 Covid-19 case on Thursday, taking the coronavirus tally to 39,708.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state reported its highest single-day tally of 1,564 Covid-19 case on Thursday, taking the coronavirus tally to 39,708.
Of the new patients, 1,404 are contact cases. Of these, 15 are healthcare workers, five are ITBP personnel and four are coastguard personnel from INSH.
The state capital also reported the highest number of cases in a day with 434 new patients of which 428 are contact cases.

Three more deaths were reported in the state that pushed the toll to 130.
Till date, 25,692 persons have been cured of Covid and 13,839 patients are still undergoing treatment.
Among the new cases, 434 are from Thiruvananthapuram, including one death, 202 each from Palakkad and Malappuram, 115 from Ernakulam, 98 from Kozhikode, 79 from Kasaragod, 75 each from Pathanamthitta and Thrissur, 74 from Kollam, 72 from Alappuzha, 53 from Kottayam, 31 from Idukki, 27 each are from Wayanad and Kannur.

Of the 766 recoveries reported during the day, 197 were from Thiruvananthapuram, 109 in Ernakulam, 73 from Kollam, 70 in Alappuzha, 67 from Palakkad, 61 in Malappuram, 47 from Thrissur, 30 in Wayanad, 28 from Kasaragod, 25 in Kannur, 22 from Idukki, 17 in Kottayam, 12 from Kozhikode and eight in Pathanamthitta.
There are currently 1,53,061 people under observation in various districts of the state. Of those, 1,40,378 are under home or institutional quarantine and 12,683 are in hospitals.
