TRICHY: Two men died after falling off a
motorcycle near
Karur in
Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Saravanan, 22, and Nagaraj, 25. The accident happened when the duo and four others were going to their homes in Dindigul district from
Hosur in Krishnagiri district.
The duo and their friends were riding on three motorcycles. The Karur town police said all of them were working in a finance company in Hosur.
They chose to travel on motorcycles as there was a heavy rush of passengers in buses after the government announced that the state would be under lockdown from Tuesday evening to combat
Covid-19.
Saravanan, who was riding on the motorcycle on the Karur-Dindigul bypass, lost control when they reached Amaravathy bridge. The motorcycle hit a pedestrian pathway. Saravanan and Nagaraj, who was riding pillion on the motorcycle, fell on the road and sustained grievous injuries.
Their friends, who were riding on other motorcycles, came to their rescue and rushed them to Karur Government Hospital. However, the duo died in hospital without responding to treatment.
The police registered a case.
