Vadodara: A resident of Mumbai was arrested by detection of crime branch (DCB) on Friday for duping a businessman from Anand.
Abdul Rehman Safri was nabbed after Amit Motani filed a complaint of cheating against him at the crime branch. According to the police, Motani filed a complaint on Thursday following which the cops swung into action.
Motani told the police that he was introduced to Safri by a friend about three and half years ago.
Safri told him that he wanted to sell off his office space in Mayfair Atrium as he was in need of money. Motani saw the office and decided to buy it for Rs 50 lakh. He gave Rs 40 lakh to Safri in instalments in 2018 and got the sale agreement in his wife’s name.
In May 2019, when Motani went to the office he bought, he saw the name of Bhagirathsinh Jadeja written outside. Motani tried to reach Safri but his phone was switched off.
When he met Safri’s wife in the city, she said she was not in contact with him since a year. Motani then approached the crime branch and filed a complaint of cheating.
