VADODARA: In a new twist to a teenager’s murder in 2016, his father, a core committee member of Shiv Sena’s Gujarat unit, and the latter’s two accomplices were arrested by Bharuch police on Sunday. The trio had planned to kill a shopkeeper to avenge the teenage boy’s death.
Satish Patil, former vice-president of Shiv Sena Gujarat, had hired Mohammed Zakir Siddiqui and Mohsin Siddiqui to kill the shopkeeper named Chaturvedi as he suspected him to be involved in his son’s murder.
Patil’s teenage son Vivek was allegedly killed by his second wife Rohini and a security guard Sudhakar Simpi. Some days later, Rohini died in jail and Simpi was released on bail. As the murder was conspired at Chaturvedi’s shop, he was made a witness in the case by police. However, Patil suspected that he was equally involved in the murder, so wanted to kill Chaturvedi.
The murder plan was blown up when cops from Bharuch local crime branch (LCB) found Mohammed Zakir and Mohsin moving around Chaturvedi’s shop on a bike on February 21. “Since their bike’s number plate was broken, we asked them to show its documents. They said the papers were with the bike’s owner and so were asked to come to LCB office on Saturday with them,” said a police official.
Meanwhile, the cops received information that the duo had been hired by Patil to kill Chaturvedi. The duo was brought for questioning during which they admitted to looking for an opportunity to kill Chaturvedi as they were hired for the job by Patil. “Patil had paid them Rs50,000 and also prepared a pesticide injection to kill Chaturvedi,” said LCB inspector J N Zala. Based on their statements, Patil was questioned and he confessed to his crime and thus was arrested.
