First death of coronavirus infected patient in UP

Uttar Pradesh reported its first coronavirus-related death on Wednesday after test reports of a 25-year-old man, who died two days ago, came Covid-19 positive.

LUCKNOW: A 25-year-old youth from Basti district turned out to be Covid-19 positive on Wednesday, almost 48 hours after he died at BRD Medical College hospital.
This is the first coronavirus death in UP and perhaps the youngest person to die because of the infection. The pandemic infection was confirmed in the youth by King George’s Medical University on Wednesday morning.

“Sample of a suspected coronavirus patient from Gorakhpur was received by us on Tuesday to confirm Covid-19. The sample was put up for testing and was found positive today,” said KGMU spokesperson Sudhir Singh. The youth had no confirmed travel history. The Basti administration, was trying to find out more details about him.
According to Principal, BRD Medical College, Ganesh Kumar, “The 25-year-old youth from Basti’s Turkharia area was admitted to our hospital on Sunday with complaints related to breathing. The family informed that he had liver and kidney ailments for the past three months. We also suspected coronavirus in him so his sample was sent for testing. But before the report could come, he died on Monday.”
“The report has not reached us till date. But as a precautionary measure, the technicians who took his samples have been isolation. The Basti district administration are has been informed about the case, all precautions have been taken.”
Alarmed over the incident, the Basti district administration has sealed the Turkharia area to screen and search any suspected cases. The authorities could not be contacted for official version.
