An exhibition on Ganga Yatra was inaugurated in city on Monday
VARANASI: As UP Governor Anandiben Patel flagged-off the Ganga Yatra under Namami Gange programme of the Central government in Ballia on Monday, UP Minister of state (independent charge) for Tourism and Religious Works, Neelkanth Tiwari inaugurated a photo exhibition on Ganga Yatra evam Vikas at Cultural Complex, Chowkaghat.
The five-day Ganga Yatra commencing from Ballia and Bijnor will culminate at Kanpur on January 31.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the Ganga Yatra would cover a distance of 1,358 km passing through 27 districts, 21 local bodies and 38 gram panchayats. The villages situated along the banks of the Ganga would be identified for the development of a Bhagirath Circuit to promote tourism. The tourism department has been directed to prepare its DPR and sent to the Centre for approval. The development of Bhagirath Circuit would not only promote tourism but also help in economic growth of the villages, he added.
