VDA team asks to vacate 38 shops outside apartment in Lanka
Traders outside shops, being vacated by for demolition
Varanasi: Tension gripped in Lanka market on Saturday when a team of Varanasi Development Authorities raided the area for vacating 38 shops outside Kamdhenu apartment for demolition in compliance with a High Court order.
Apart from shop owners other traders from nearby areas also gathered there. VDA vice chairman Rahul Pandey said that against the construction of a double-floor lane of shops containing 38 outlets with the boundary of Kamdhenu apartment the residents association of apartment had taken shelter of the court.
He said that the High Court had issued order for the demolition of same shops on February 9, 2018.
The builder took shelter of the Supreme Court against the HC order but failed to get any relief, said Pandey. Notices were issued to all shop owners to vacate their outlets by February 1 three months ago, he said.
The VDA will carry out demolition drive in a day or two as it has to submit compliance report before HC in a week.
