Raj Mehta's directorial ‘Good Newwz’ seems to have hit the bull's eye at the box office as the film looks to be on a roll creating as well as breaking several records. The film which stars an ensemble star cast comprising of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh in pivotal roles has crossed the Rs 150 crore and is still going strong in the domestic circuit.
According to the latest Box Office India report, ‘Good Newwz’ which had collected Rs 124.94 in its first week at the box office, has gone on to collect another Rs 5 crore on its second Monday after minting Rs 33.50 crore from its second weekend.
With a total of Rs 163.44 crore, the Akshay-Bebo starrer is now aiming to reach another milestone of Rs 200 crore.
The same report further suggests that ‘Good Newwz’ might end its second week by earning somewhere around Rs 50 crore which would be Akshay's highest second-week collections for this year and highest of his career as well. But with Ajay Devgn-Saif Ali Khan's 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' and Deepika Padukone's 'Chhapaak' all set to release this week, ‘Good Newwz’ is sure to face a very tough competition.
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Akshay had opened up about his success at the box office. "I always think that my four films are releasing and I just hope that at least one film does well then I’ll get work in the next year. It’s not about giving hits in the industry; it’s about surviving in the industry," he said.
Furthermore, he added, "Survival is the most important thing. I always pray that I can survive in the industry and that is what I want. Someone was asking me now, ‘You are on which rank?’ I was like, ‘Mahalaxmi ka ghoda thodhi hu’. For me, if I’m working, it is more than enough."
