Deepika Padukone knew she is standing with people who beat other girls: Smriti Irani reacts to the ‘Chhapaak’ actor's visit to JNU

Deepika Padukone’s visit to Jawaharlala Nehru University caused a massive stir. While a few called a ban of her latest release ‘Chhapaak’, a few others stood in solidarity with her act and lauded her stand. Recently actress turned politician Smriti Irani shared her stand on Deepika’s act at an event and said, “I think that anybody who has read the news knew where they are going to stand, knew that they are going to stand with people who wanted the destruction of India, knew that you are standing with people who celebrate every time a CRPF jawan is killed. She knew that she is standing with people who actually hit some girls in their private parts with lathis. She stood next to them, that is her right. I cannot deny her the right that she will stand with people who beat other girls.”

Earlier, Kangana Ranaut had expressed her stand on the same and said, “Masked mob attack occurred at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is currently being investigated and understood that there are two sides namely JNU and ABVP in the university. I must tell you that the gang war is quite common during college life. I used to stay at a girls' hostel alongside boys hostel where some boys used to follow and murder anyone in broad daylight.’’
On Sunday, celebrities like Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, Anurag Kahsyap, Vishal Bhardwaj, Taapsee Pannu, Anubhav Sinha, Dia Mirza and Rahul Bose among many others had joined a protest condemning the attack.
