‘Malang’ opened to a positive response at the box office and earned Rs 6 crore on its first day. In its second week the film managed to cross Rs 50 crore.
In an exclusive chat with ETimes, Mohit Suri had revealed that a sequel to the thriller is in the pipeline. “Sequel to ‘Malang’ is definitely on the cards but I cannot confirm at the moment," he had said. Talking about the film's success, Mohit had added, “‘Malang’ is an off-beat film with an ensemble star cast. Despite many big films releasing around it, it is sustaining the weekend after the weekend. Most people had given up on it even before releasing it. So this film collecting Rs 50 crore is more in valuation than the film which does Rs 450+ business at the box-office. The film today has spoken for itself. "
