After the sudden demise of actor Irrfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Wajid Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput, now the legendary dance guru of Bollywood, Saroj Khan passed away on 3rd July due to cardiac arrest. Popularly called as masterji or even as the Mother of Bollywood Dance in India, Saroj Khan has delivered some of the greatest hits like ‘Ek Do Teen’, ‘Hawa Hawai’, ‘Dhak Dhak Karne Laga’, ‘Maar Daala’, ‘Nimbooda Nimbooda’, ‘Yeh Ishq Hai’ and much more. Choreographing some of the A-listers of Bollywood, masterji has worked with Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Rekha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan among others. Following the footsteps of the mother, the late actor Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor was honing her dancing skills at Saroj Khan’s classes. Talking about Janhvi, Saroj Khan once wrote on her Instagram, “I’m not working with her (Janhvi Kapoor)but I am taking classes. I hope we work together in the future. She is like my own daughter.” Taking a moment on social media, the ‘Dhadak’ actress posted an unseen picture with the master online and wrote, “ Can’t thank my stars enough for getting the chance to learn from you I will always cherish every moment I spent in the class room with you but now even more. You are truly special, truly a legend for what you’ve given our cinema through your dance. We’ll miss you Sarojji.”
