Kiara Advani’s topless photoshoot was a concept recreation of Tabu’s bold pose from 2001, clarifies photographer Dabboo Ratnani

Celebrated photographer Dabboo Ratnani has been revealing pictures from his annual Bollywood calendar and this year around one of his clicks was caught in controversy. Kiara Advani posed for a topless picture with a leaf for the fashion photographer and this picture was called out for plagiarism by an internet user stating that it was strikingly similarity to a photoshoot done by international photographer Marie Barsch.

Defending his concept, Daboo posted a picture of Tabu from his 2001 shoot wherein the actress was snapped posing topless with a leaf. In a lengthy social media post the photographer clarified, “This timeless & mesmerising shot of Tabu was taken in the year 2001 and it featured in my calendar in the year 2002. There’s been a lil noise about @kiaraaliaadvani ‘s breathtaking 2020 calendar shot with leaf ! Guess if I can reuse my camera, I can definitely repeat my own concept! & if at all that doesn’t go well with trolls, then I admit to plagiarising MY OWN SELF #loveandpeace @dabbooratnani @manishadratnani Huge Thanks to my friends who trust me ! That’s all that matters.”
Apart from Kiara, celebrities like Anushka Sharma, Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham and Vidya Balan had posed for Daboo Ratnani’s 2020 calendar.
