Before becoming an actor he did MBBS, MS and practised medicine and surgery in Pune, India and Tabora, Tanzania.
He started acting in plays while attending the medical college in Pune.
He played the iconic role of Ganpatrao aka Appasaheb Belwalkar in the play 'Natasamrat', an act he will always be known for! He has worked over 200 films including Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati. However, we take a look at a few films he will be remembered for.

He was also known for Rajesh Khanna's 'Thodisi Bewafai', 'Des Pardes', Amitabh Bachchan's 'Muqadar Ka Sikander', 'Shriman Shrimati', Kamal Haasan's 'Sadma' and more.
