'Love Aaj Kal' director Imtiaz Ali is no longer making the much-awaited Madhubala biopic?
Director Imtiaz Ali’s much-talked aboit film, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ starring Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan hit the theatres today. While fans of the filmmaker are quite elated with the same, they were also anticipating an announcement regarding his next project today on the release of ‘Love Aaj Kal’. However, it looks like there will be none.
According to a report on a news portal, Imtiaz Ali’s next was supposed to be a biopic on late legendary actress Madhubala.
The filmmaker was to make an official announcement on the same today on the occasion of her birth anniversary today on February 14.
However, despite all the efforts of the director and Madhubala’s sister Madhur Brij Bhushan, not everyone was on the same page with the film. Owing to the same, Imtiaz has reportedly terminated the contract to make the film.
The report also stated that Madhur persuaded all the siblings to give NOC (Non-Objection Certificate) to Imtiaz. They were also apparently told that stories won’t be part of the film. According to the report, the major objection came from her sister Kaneez Balsara who would not permit them. Balsara’s kids did not let Bhushan meet her. She insisted her and her kids to read the agreement but they, in return, sent notices to her and the makers of the project. As a result, the director decided to terminate his contract citing misunderstanding.
Madhur also told the news portal that it hurts her that they have missed out on a golden opportunity to make a biopic on Madhubala. She added that she was backing the film with her guruji Arvind Malviya as they wanted to open a school with the money generated from the film and provide free education to the poor girls.
Meanwhile, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ starring Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan hit the theatres today and has already been receiving positive reviews from the audience and critics alike.
