Shah Rukh Khan,
Ranveer Singh and director
Ali Abbas Zafar may soon come together for a film project that is said to be a remake of the 1987 classic ‘
Mr India’.
Rumours doing the rounds online indicated that the director has quietly been working on the film for a while and is aiming at giving a fresh spin and a contemporary set up to the existing concept of the film that originally starred
Anil Kapoor,
Sridevi and
Amrish Puri.
While Ranveer, is in advance talks to fill in Anil’s shoes for the film, the makers have reportedly reached out to Shah Rukh to play the antagonist
Mogambo.
Well, if all goes according to plan, this will surely be one interesting watch.
Meanwhile, other reports claim that the film will serve as a spin-off more than a remake, and the director is making sure to proceed with caution, keeping in mind the film and its characters’ iconic statuses. Although there has been no confirmation on SRK joining the project, Ranveer has reportedly loved the subject and is excited to take on Anil’s role. The makers are keen to have a 2022 festive release for the film.
Till then, Ali is expected to begin work on a female superhero flick with
Katrina Kaif.
Ranveer, on the other hand, has his work cut out for him with the upcoming release of ’83 and
Karan Johar’s ‘Takht’ set to roll out in a few weeks.
