Just a day after news broke of
Sushant Singh Rajput’s father,
KK Singh filing an FIR against actress
Rhea Chakraborty at the Rajiv Nagar police station in Patna, a Special Investigations Team is reportedly set to visit the actor’s Mumbai residence.
According to a report by
Times Now, the team is also expected to formally go through the evidence collected by the
Mumbai Police in their ongoing investigation.
The report goes on to state that the
Bihar Police team is first expected to meet the DCP Crime Branch, of the Mumbai Police, following which they are expected to visit the other branches.
In his 7-page FIR, Singh alleged, "When Rhea realised that Sushant was adamant, and that he was of no use to her, and also the fact that his bank balance had reduced to a great extent, she on 8-6-2020 left Sushant's house with a lot of things, including cash and jewellery, his laptop, credit cards and the passwords, other important documents, and blocked his number. Sushant called up my daughter and told her that Rhea may get him framed."
The four-member team is also set to visit other places that may offer them evidence in the ongoing case.
Since the FIR was lodged, the team has reportedly already begun their investigations and have even met some of Sushant's friends. According to reports, KK Singh expressed his reservations about pursuing the case under the Mumbai Police and owing to his poor health and inability to travel to the city, opted to file the FIR in Patna.
"I'm 74 years old, and I realise that the Mumbai Police, instead of bringing the main culprits to book, are investigating those who have little to do with this case. I pray that my complaint be looked into, and a SIT be set up to probe this," read his statement.
Chakraborty and five other individuals have reportedly been booked under IPC Section 306 (Abetment of suicide), Sec 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), Sec 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement), Sec 380 (Theft in dwelling house), Sec 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust), and Sec 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).
These development come in weeks after Rhea tagged Union Home Minister
Amit Shah in a post on Instagram called for a CBI investigation “to understand what prompted him to take the step".
Over the past month, the Mumbai Police assured that they would be investigating the actor’s death from “all angles” and have so far recorded statements of around 40 people, including director-producer
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, filmmakers Aditya Chopra, Mukesh Chhabra,
Shekhar Kapoor,
Mahesh Bhatt, and film critic Rajeev Masand, among others.
Rhea’s statement was also recorded days after the actor’s death.
