Vikas Singh, the lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput's father KK Singh, has slammed the BMC’s decision to quarantine Bihar IPS officer Vinay Tiwari, who arrived in Mumbai over the weekend to join the investigation into the actor’s death probe.
In his statement to ANI, Vikas alleged that the Maharashtra government’s decision to quarantine the enforcement officer was a move to “disable and obstruct” the ongoing Bihar Police investigations.

Singh said, “I don't think any state govt would have quarantined an enforcement officer. Quarantining of a police officer clearly means they want to disable or obstruct the investigation by Patna police.”

In his statement to the media, he went on to claim that the Mumbai police was trying to buy time to “destroy evidence”.

“Basically, Mumbai Police is buying time to ensure that the evidence gets destroyed. So we decided that this matter should be given to CBI and Nitish Kumar had earlier promised that if the father wants a CBI probe, it will be handed it over to CBI,” said Vikas Singh.

According to the latest development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has revealed that KK Singh, on Tuesday gave his consent to order a CBI investigation into the death probe. In a statement to ANI, Kumar said, “The DGP spoke to #SushantSinghRajput's father this morning and he gave consent for CBI inquiry. So now, we are recommending CBI probe in the matter.”

Meanwhile, a bench of Bombay High Court (HC) was set to hear a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking transfer of Rajput's death case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today (August 4) filed by one Sameet Thakkar, through his lawyer Raspal Singh Renu.

However, the hearing was cancelled due to the heavy rainfall in the city since Monday. The rescheduled date for the hearing is yet to be announced by the Bombay High Court.

In the meantime, the Supreme Court on August 5 will hear a petition seeking transfer of the case from Bihar to Mumbai.
