With the number of Coronavirus cases going up in the state of Tamil Nadu, the state government has invoked section 144 of the CrPC which prohibits the assembly of five or more people in public places. This section shall be enforced from 6 pm onwards today as per the latest reports. Meanwhile, with all shootings being put on hold and the daily wage workers on film sets going out of work, FEFSI president RK Selvamani had appealed yesterday to the film fraternity to extend financial help for those in need.
After Sivakumar, Suriya, Karthi and Sivakarthikeyan’s donations, Superstar Rajinikanth has reportedly given 25 per cent of the needed money for FEFSI members, while actor Vijay Sethupathi has given Rs 10 lakh for the needy.

Yesterday, Sivakumar, Suriya and Karthi jointly donated Rs 10 lakh, and then actor Sivakarthikeyan also donated Rs 10 lakh for the FEFSI members. Following this, Parthipan, Prakash Raj and Mano Bala too have provided 250, 150, and 10 bags of rice weighing 25 kg each respectively. Now, Thalaiva Rajinikanth has reportedly donated Rs 50 lakh, which is equal to 25 percent of the money requested by the FEFSI president RK Selvamani. Also, actor Vijay Sethupathi has reportedly donated Rs 10 lakh for the FEFSI members. Since RK Selvamani's request, Kollywood celebrities have been rushing to show support for FEFSI members, who have worked day and night for the success of their films.
Meanwhile, due to the Coronavirus lockdown, the shooting of Rajinikanth's 'Annaatthe' which is directed by Siruthai Siva has also been suspended. The film is produced by Sun Pictures, and it is expected to be released in Diwali 2020.
