Corona Crisis Charity has been set up by
Tollywood to help out the daily-wage workers from the industry facing losses due to the novel coronavirus lockdown.
Chiranjeevi, who's the chairman, announced the same on social media on Saturday and stated that
Jr NTR has donated Rs 25 lakh to the cause while
Nagarjuna has given Rs 1 Cr. He wrote, “To aid the Film workers especially the daily wage earners who need most support in the industry at this time, we have set up #CoronaCrisisCharity (CCC).
Responding to our appeal a total sum of 3.8 Cr has been pooled so far including @tarak9999 25 lacs @iamnagarjuna 1 Cr...1/2” (sic)
He added that
Suresh Productions has also come forward to donate Rs 1 Cr, while
Mahesh Babu has pledged Rs 25 lakh and
Ram Charan has given Rs 30 lakh. Urging other stars in the industry to come forward for the same, he added, “@SureshProdns @RanaDaggubati @VenkyMama @SBDaggubati 1 Cr @urstrulyMahesh 25 lacs @AlwaysRamCharan 30 lacs have generously donated. I thank all of them & request the film fraternity to contribute to this urgent cause as it is the film workers who make this film industry 2/2” (sic)
Claiming to be moved by the fraternity offering help, Naga Chaitanya too donated Rs 25 lakh as support and Varun Tej donated Rs 20 lakh. Birthday boy Vishwak Sen too donated Rs 5 lakh on the eve of his birthday to support the cause. Lavanya Tripathi became the first actress to pledge for the same, by donating Rs 1 lakh in support. Kartikeya contributed Rs 2 lakh, while Sharwanand donated Rs 15 lakh. Dil Raju and Shirish came forward for Sri Venkateshwara Creations with an amount of Rs 10 lakh.
He also shared a long list of celebs who have already donated to the cause to the state governments and central both.
