Raia institute renews collaboration with Portuguese govt wing

PANAJI: V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE) based at Raia, has renewed and extended its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Turismo de Portugal during the recent visit of President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to Goa.
The MOU was signed by VMSIIHE director Irfan Mirza and Head of Turismo de Portugal (TBC) Louis Araujo in the presence of the President of Portugal, and Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant, at Dona Paula.
The two countries will continue to work together in the fields of research, trainings, teaching-learning methods and other aspects in the near future, the institute has said.
The MoU has been signed for knowledge exchange programmes between the two countries and will now also include collaborative efforts in internships designed to strengthen a student's learning experience by integrating on-campus studies with closely related work experience at reputed starred hotels.
Additionally, students can now seek opportunities of employment in Portugal.
"We at VMSIIHE are absolutely delighted to reinforce our existing alliance with Turismo de Portugal. Portugal has a vibrant tourism culture. Together we can collaborate and enhance the quality of education we offer to our students. The MOU focuses on a shared vision, to encourage and develop the training and qualification of personnel working in the field of tourism, as well as to offer internship and placement opportunities to successful students." institute director Mirza said.
Mirza led the efforts in forging a collaboration between the two nations in 2017 during the visit of the Prime Minister of Portugal António Costa to Goa.. This collaboration has now been reinforced and strengthened to include collaborative efforts in the areas of knowledge exchange, internships and placements, said the institute.
