NEW DELHI: After announcing the relaunch of yesteryear classics Ramayan, Mahabharat and detective drama
Byomkesh Bakshi on Doordarshan last week, the ministry of information and broadcasting said on Monday it will re-telecast more of its 1980-90 content to “make staying at home more enjoyable for people during the lockdown”.
Among the latest shows that the government said will return to the TV sceens includes Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s Chanakya, Upanishad Ganga produced by Chinmaya Mission Trust, superhero show Shaktimaan; comedy series
Shriman Shrimati and
Krishna Kali, all of which will begin telecast at different time slots from April 1.
At present, the government has already started telecast of Ramayan, Mahabharat, Byomkesh Bakshi, Circus, Hum Hain Na and Tu Tota Main Maina on DD national network.
The Monday order also came with an advisory that all DTH and cable operators must mandatorily show all DD Channels and
Lok Sabha and
Rajya Sabha channels as per the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act. The government statement warned that anyone not complying with the orders would be liable to action under the Act.
