Following the spread of news of Rafale fighter jets taking off from France for India, hashtag Ambala with Rafale started trending on Twitter on Tuesday and within a few hours, over 10,000 tweets were recorded on the social media platform.

AMBALA: Following thenews of Rafale fighter jets taking off from France for India, hashtag Ambala with Rafale started trending on Twitter on Tuesday and within a few hours, over 10,000 tweets were recorded on the social media platform.
As per sources, five Rafale jets are expected to reach the Indian Air Force Station at Ambala Cantonment on Wednesday.
Principal spokesperson of Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed the development with tweet ‘Ferry of Rafale’ – “The first five Indian Air Force (IAF) Rafales have taken off from Dassault Aviation Facility, Merignac, France, today (Monday) morning.
These five include three single seater and two twin seater aircraft.”
“The ferry of the aircraft is planned in two stages and will be undertaken by the pilots of the IAF, who have undergone comprehensive training on the aircraft. The Air to Air Refuelling planned during the first leg of the ferry will be undertaken by these pilots with dedicated tanker support from the French Air Force. The aircraft are likely to arrive at Air Force Station, Ambala, on July 29, 2020, subject to weather. The “Golden Arrows – 17 Squadron”, is being raised at this base equipped with Rafale aircraft”, further states the MoD spokesperson.
IAF also tweeted about Rafale arrival from its official Twitter handle.
Embassy of India in France in its press release stated, “The Rafale aircraft will cover a distance of 7,000 kms from France to India with air-to-air refueling and a single stop en route in UAE. The first Rafale fighter was handed over to the IAF in October 2019. Delivery of ten aircraft has been completed on schedule. Five will stay back in France for training mission. The delivery of all thirty-six aircraft will be completed on schedule by the end of 2021.”
Haryana home, health, and urban local bodies minister Anil Vij said, “The Ambala Cantonment is fully prepared to welcome Rafale and it is a matter of pride for us that it is coming to Ambala. The Ambala residents will do a grand welcome of Rafale.”
