Ex-IAS officers Khulbe, Sinha advisers to PM
NEW DELHI: The government on Friday appointed retired IAS officers Bhaskar Khulbe and Amarjeet Sinha as advisers to PM Narendra Modi.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved appointment of the two officers in the rank and scale of secretary to the government on contract basis for two years or until further orders. This is the first time that Modi has appointed any advisers.
Both Khulbe and Sinha are IAS officers of the 1983 batch.
Khulbe had earlier served in the PMO while Sinha retired as secretary in the rural development ministry. Khulbe is from the West Bengal cadre while Sinha is from the Bihar cadre.
Khulbe was seen as a trusted officer in the PMO and is known for his efficient handling of complex issues. An alumnus of St Stephen’s College in the national capital, Sinha topped Delhi University. He also received the Rhodes Scholarship, and the Oxford Cambridge Society of India Scholarship.
