Giriraj: India paying price for failing to send Muslims to Pak

NEW DELHI/PATNA: Just about a week after he was pulled up by BJP president J P Nadda for his remark that the Deoband seminary was a “Gangotri” of terrorism, animal husbandry minister Giriraj Singh kicked up a fresh row saying the country was paying the price for its failure to send Muslims to Pakistan.
The minister said greater effort should have been made to bring Hindus to India after the Islamic state of Pakistan came into being at the time of Independence.The BJP MP from Begusarai made the remark in Purnea district which has a sizeable Muslim population while canvassing for the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
Though BJP did not offer any comment immediately, Singh’s remarks once again puts it in an embarrassing position. After the recent loss in the Delhi assembly polls, home minister Amit Shah had disapproved of inflammatory speeches by some of his party colleagues.
On CAA, Singh highlighted the need for such a legislation and said, “When our forefathers were fighting for independence from British rule, Jinnah was pushing for creation of an Islamic state. Our forefathers, however, committed a mistake. Had they ensured that all our Muslim brothers were sent to Pakistan and Hindus brought here, the need for such a move (CAA) would not have arisen. This did not happen and we have paid a heavy price for it.”
