NEW DELHI: There is adequate availability and supply of essential commodities such as food and medicines as well as petroleum products in the country, said officials on Sunday, after a group of ministers reviewed the various arrangements put in place for effective implementation of the ongoing lockdown due to Covid-19.
The GoM, led by defence minister Rajnath Singh and attended by home minister Amit Shah, I&B minister Prakash Javadekar and petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan, among others, also expressed concern at the movement of migrant workers and their gatherings at various state borders.

“The states have been asked to make arrangements for sheltering the migrant workers at temporary camps, with provision of food and other amenities for them. Adequate funds under SRDF (state disaster response fund) are available for this purpose,” said an official.
“The GoM was also briefed about the availability and supply of essential commodities such as food and medicines, which are satisfactory and no major issues are envisaged in this regard,” he added.
Similarly, petroleum products are available in adequate quantities in all parts of the country. “It is being ensured that supplies for a minimum of 10 days are being maintained. Cargo movement of essential commodities by train, air and road is also being carried out. Any issue that may arise locally will be resolved,” he said.
