Srinagar district is now terror-free: Police
SRINAGAR: A day after killing a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist in a joint operation at Ranbirgarh on the outskirts of Srinagar, J&K Police on Sunday disclosed that Srinagar district has now become completely terror-free. So far this year, security forces have killed as many as 138 terrorists in the Union Territory.
“After the killing of Lashkar-e-Taiba militant Ishfaq Rashid Khan, no resident of Srinagar district is in militant ranks now,” said Kashmir range IGP Vijay Kumar in a tweet on J&K Police’s official Twitter handle.

When TOI asked him about the speculation of missing youth Hilal Ahmed Dar, a resident of Bemina in the district, having joined terrorist ranks, Kumar said this is just a canard.
“More investigation is needed into his going missing during his trekking expedition with his friends on June 16,” he said.
On their way back from the hills of Naranag in Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir, Dar, who was working in a private company in Gurugram and had come back to the Valley in the wake of Covid outbreak, told his friends that he was feeling tired and wanted to take some rest. While four of his friends returned home, he has been missing since.
