Teenager injured in Srinagar grenade attack
SRINAGAR: A 17-year-old boy was injured after unidentified terrorists lobbed a grenade in Kawdara area of Srinagar’s downtown, barely a few metres away from a CRPF camp, on Saturday. Two private vehicles were also damaged in the explosion.
This is the sixth such attack in Srinagar and the eighth in Kashmir Valley since the nullification of Articles 370 and 35A on August 5, which paved the way for the reorganization of the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.

Srinagar CRPF spokesperson Pankaj Singh said the security personnel were far from the site of the explosion and didn’t suffer any harm. “They (attackers) just want to create terror and are targeting common people. The blast caused some minor injuries and the injured boy was shifted to Srinagar’s Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital,” he said.
SMHS medical superintendent Dr Nazir Choudhary confirmed that a 17-year-old boy, Aazar, was admitted to the facility with splinter injuries. “He is stable and has superficial injuries on his stomach,” Dr Choudhary said.
Soon after the attack, the area was sealed for a few hours as security forces launched a massive manhunt for the perpetrators.
