Earlier in the day after opting to bat, England ended with 231/9 on board. Many of us thought that Eoin Morgan might have missed a trick here by omitting Mooen Ali from the XI as it was a used surface. First the Australian bowlers once again provided good start with the ball by claiming early wickets and troubling the batsmen with their subtle variations. For Australia, Adam Zampa once again starred with the ball as he took a 3-wicket haul. The next best bowler was Starc with a couple to his name. Rest of the bowlers apart from Stoinis took a wicket each. For England, with the bat Joe Root and Eoin Morgan stitched a 61-run stand to get the England innings on track after a few early jolts. After the departure of Joe Root England too collapsed and just when it looked like England would get bowled out under 200, there emerged a pair of Tom Curran and Adil Rashid onto the scene. The duo added 75 runs for the last wicket to take England past the 220-run mark. In the end, The total of 231 turned out to be a decisive one for the hosts.

After two neck to neck contests in a span of 3 days, the series stands at 1-1. Come the decider on 16th September, 2020 at the same venue, The Old Trafford. Hope so it will live upto the hype of cricket's biggest rivalry. That game begins at 1300 local (1200 GMT). Till then take care!

England's bowling can be divided into three parts. The first part belong to Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes as the duo kept the Australian batsmen in check with their accurate lines and lengths getting early breakthroughs once again. But then came a phase in play when Finch and Labuschagne were batting. The England bowlers were short on ideas as the opposition batters kept milking away runs. Then came the third burst, when Captain Eoin Morgan went back to his strike bowlers, Archer and Woakes. That passage of play from 31st over to 35th over turned the tide in home team's favour as Australia collapsed from 144/2 to 147/6. After the spell from Jofra and Chris ended Morgan turned to his other bowlers, the Curran brothers and his leg spinning specialist Adil Rashid to bail the team out. The trio too did not disappoint their captain's faith. In the end, Archer, Woakes and Sam Curran ended with 3 wickets apiece and Adil Rashid took the lone wicket of Carey which sealed an England victory.

The winning captain, Eoin Morgan, starts off by saying that this is a confidence booster for him and the team and they were really good with the ball and the bowlers batted well towards the end. Credits the guys as a team and says that Rashid didn't have the best day but he did well towards the end. Adds that he played his last hand bowling Jofra and Woakes in that second spell and that the bowlers made him look good today with their performances.

The MAN OF THE MATCH IS JOFRA ARCHER. He starts off by saying that they were very versatile and their plans worked. Adds that he doesn't know how he bowled so well and it just worked out. States that Morgan lets them bowl with freedom and sets the fields that the bowlers want. Adds that they don't have to do too much on this wicket as it is a used one and they didn't have to be too funky with the ball.

01:56 (IST) Sep 14

Aaron Finch, the skipper of the Australian side, begins by saying that he knew that it was going to be tough and England bowled well and it was hard to hit boundaries. Adds that the guys have their own plans and at times they might not be 100% committed to the plans. Continues by saying that Rashid and Tom played well and that in the future, they can bowl better in those situations. States that they knew that they would be playing on a used wicket and it's not the best wicket for an ODI match but adds that this is not an excuse. Adds that he is not happy with his innings as they lost the game.

What do you say to a team who looses from the point of ascendency. Such was the case for Australia today. During the first half of the game and also during most of the second half, the Aussies looked in absolute control of the game. Though they were jolted early in their chase when they were reduced to 37/2 inside the first Powerplay. Then came a game changing partnership between skipper Aaron Finch and Steven Smith's like and like for Marnus Labuschagne. The duo rotated the strike and hit the odd ball to the fence to keep the run rate in check. Then came a storm from the English side which blew the Oz away. From being comfortably placed at 144/2 in the 31st over they slipped to 147/6 in the 35th over. Marnus was the first one to depart getting out to Chris Woakes and then the procession began. From needing 87 off 115 balls they lost their hold on the game. In the end, the kangaroos fell short by 24 runs and allowed England to level the 3-match series 1-1.

Adil Rashid to Alex Carey, OUT! STUMPED! England complete the comeback with this brilliant piece of work by Rashid and Buttler! Morgan, take a bow! What brilliant captaincy this was by Morgan and his brilliance is the reason England are level in this series. Rashid dishes out a googly again around off, Carey dances down the track to smash this one but he misses this altogether as Buttler pouches this and whips the bails off before Carey can get his bat back into the crease. ENGLAND WIN BY 24 RUNS!
