India vs England 1st ODI: Records galore for Kuldeep Yadav

Indian wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav made a flurry of records in the first ODI of the three-match series against England. The chinaman bowler dished out a commanding performance to seal his career-best ODI figures that helped India bowl England for 268 on Thursday.

NEW DELHI: Indian wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav made a flurry of records in the first ODI of the three-match series against England. The chinaman bowler dished out a commanding performance to seal his career-best ODI figures of 6 for 25 that helped India bowl England for 268 on Thursday.
None of the England batsmen were able to read Kuldeep's brilliant spell which was also the best figures by any left-arm spinner in ODIs.
He surpassed compatriot Murali Karthik's record of 6/27 against Australia in 2007.
Kuldeep bowled an astounding 38 dot balls and not once he was hit for a boundary. This was Kuldeep's first five-for in ODIs after he had recently achieved the same feat in T20Is during the Manchester encounter.

That Kuldeep was singularly responsible for England's batting collapse was evident more so because the next best figures were 2 for 70 in 9.5 overs by Umesh Yadav.
Kuldeep was not afraid to flight the ball and dipped viciously having the batsmen in two minds. Some played with the turn and some tried against the turn -- both with dismal outcomes.
Kuldeep's figure made him the fourth best bowler for India in the one-day cricket.
Stuart Binny held the Indian record who took six wickets at the expense of just four runs against Bangladesh in 2014 in Mirpur. Leading Indian Test wicket-taker Anil Kumble's 6/12 against West Indies in 1993 is India's second best while Ashish Nehra features third in the list with his 6/23 against England in 2003 World Cup.
The 23-year old's performance is also the best figures by any spinner against England in ODIs. In the process, he also bettered Shahid Afridi's 5/11 to record the best figures by any spinner in ODIs in England.
