KOLKATA: The European Tour, which like all other sporting events in the world had been halted owing to the
coronavirus outbreak, recently announced their plans to resume on July 22 with the British Masters. That will be the first of six-straight meets in the United Kingdom.
Kolkata professional SSP Chawrasia, a four-time winner on the European Tour, has received the new schedule on Thursday but is not in a position to take any decision.
"The biggest point is how can we go. International flights are still not operating from here and I don't have any idea when it will resume. Then, safety is also a concern but first flights need to operate. I have been thinking about it since the schedule came in and to be frank I am a bit confused about what to do," he said.
Chawrasia, who turned 42 earlier this month, will wait and watch for the time being and keep his fingers crossed.
"I also spoke with my manager for his advice. We thought that till international flights start operating from here, there is no point making any decision. I will keep a watch on the situation now," added Chawrasia, who last played in
Qatar on the European Tour in early March.
The
Royal Calcutta Golf Club is likely to reopen its
golf course and the range in the first week of June and Chawrasia is looking forward to it. "It will be really nice to be back on the course after such a long time and get some practice," he said.
