WASHINGTON: Australian Jason Day teed off alone in the third round of the PGA Tour Travelers Championship on Saturday after requesting a coronavirus test which later was confirmed as negative.
Former world number one Day had asked for the additional COVID-19 test as a precautionary measure ahead of the third round at Cromwell, Connecticut.
The PGA Tour later confirmed that the result was negative, meaning Day will be free to complete this weekend's tournament.

This week's event is the third since the PGA Tour resumed play after the coronavirus shutdown.
Seven players had withdrawn from the event for issues related to COVID-19, including Brooks Koepka, Chase Koepka, Webb Simpson and Graeme McDowell.
