FAKE ALERT: Indian model Zoya Shaikh’s photo shared as teacher suspended in Lahore for ‘sexy-figure’

CLAIM
A dubious news website by the name of ‘Republic of Buzz’ published a report titled ‘Teacher suspended for having ‘sexy-figure’: Lahore’ to claim that a 30-year-old woman working as a teacher in a Lahore school lost her for being ‘too sexy’.
As per the report, Aasia Zubair, a married woman with two children was fired from her teaching position on August 11, 2020 as the administration accused her of being ‘too sexy’ to teach students of secondary education.
The report posted an image of a woman in salwar-kameez insinuating her to be Aasia Zubair.

The report also posted a screengrab of a tweet purportedly from Zubair’s account, where she highlights her plight.
“So Apparently I received a termination letter from my school administrator stating that my body is too ‘fit’ or ‘erotic’ for me to teach classes of the secondary education students. We usually We wear decent shalwar kameez with dupatta at our school & I’ve know idea what else they wanted from me? Ridiculous #TooSexyToWorkSoFired (sic),” reads the screengrab of the tweet from handle @Aasiazubair908.
Many Twitter users posted screengrabs and links to this report.


Some Youtube channels also put out videos making the same claim using the same photo.

TRUTH
The photo posted by Republic of Buzz is of an Indian model Zoya Shaikh. It has got nothing to do with a Pakistani teacher.
VERIFICATION AND METHODOLOGY
Cropping the relevant portion of the photo and running reverse-image search on it led us to the Instagram page of Indian model Zoya Shaikh.

On February 14, 2020, Zoya had posted the same image as the one being used in the Republic of Buzz report.

This proves that the woman in question is not teacher Aasia Zubair as being falsely claimed.
We also looked through the handle @Aasiazubair908 to see if it had put out the tweet, whose screengrab was used by Republic of Buzz to make its claim. We found no such tweet, but in fact found her tweeting the screengrab of Republic of Buzz report on August 19, 2020.

Besides, the handle regularly uses Zoya’s image to post on Twitter.
We also found no credible news report about a married woman being fired from her teaching job in Pakistan for having a ‘sexy-figure’.
The same website Republic of Buzz had previously put out fake news of a Muslim girl gangraped by Hindu mobs in Delhi. Times Fact Check had busted that earlier this year.

VERDICT
Times Fact Check has found that a photo of an Indian model Zoya Shaikh is being falsely shared as a female teacher suspended in Lahore for having a ‘sexy-figure’.
