Pakistan violates ceasefire in J&K's Rajouri district


Jammu, Jul 21 (IANS): Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing and intense shelling on the line of control (LoC) in the Rajouri district of J&K on Tuesday.

Colonel Devender Anand, Defence Ministry spokesman, said at 5.15 p.m. Pakistan initiated ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling mortars in the Sunderbani sector.

"The army is retaliating befittingly," he said.

On Sunday too, Pakistan had violated ceasefire in the same sector.

So far this year, Pakistan has violated ceasefire on the LoC and the international border in J&K 2,711 times, killing 21 civilians and injuring 94 others.
