The second car to come out of the Suzuki-Toyota partnership will be the Toyota Urban Cruiser, the teaser for which has dropped on the company’s twitter handle.

The new SUV will be based on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and a launch is expected to be sometime during the festival season between late August and early September.

The first car to come out of the partnership was the Toyota Glanza. This car was based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and was identical to the car, except for the Toyota badging all around. For the Urban Cruiser however, there will be more differentiation.

For one, the Toyota grille seems to be new and the alloys are different as well. We are expecting subtle changes to some of the plastic panels as well.

Mechanically, the Urban Cruiser will remain identical to the Vitara Brezza. The compact SUV from Maruti is currently powered by the K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine which produces 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. Transmission options include manual and automatic while the automatic variants also feature smart hybrid tech.

The Urban Cruiser is also expected to be manufactured at the Maruti Suzuki facility. The Vitara Brezza currently retails at a starting price of Rs 7.34 lakh. Seeing what Toyota did with the Glanza, expect a similar pricing strategy
